Create and Maintain Affordable Housing in Washington

Thousands of affordable apartments across Washington state are made possible by grants and incentives from Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the US Department of Agriculture (USDA), and state tax incentives that are administered by Washington state officials.

The homes made possible by these programs are essential to Washington state’s housing mix. Tax-credit affordable homes significantly reduce the cost of housing for families with incomes of up to 80% Area Median Income (AMI).

The costs for many essentials, including housing, are rising but wages haven’t kept up. Washington state must invest in funding and programs that enable the creation of more affordable housing to meet the needs of its residents.
